The Potberg Cycling

from Pedal Power Association as the Most Consistant MTB Funride on the PPA
calender.
We are very proud of this accolade and wish to thank everyone that helps us
make this day the amazing event that it has become.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION Cyclists will have a choice of the three most beautiful
routes to date. The new 75km Whale Route takes you literally around Potberg.
Both the 55km Eland Route and the 32km Bontebok Route will show you the beauty
of the De Hoop Nature Reserve as cyclists make their way down to the rugged
coast line. The 10km Vulture Route is a safe, fairly flat course on gravel
roads through the farmlands, ideal for children. There will be the usual fun
and action at this annual event, which is fast becoming one of the draw cards
on the mountain biking calendar.
DIRECTIONS TO VENUE Take the N2 to Caledon and take the Bredasdorp turn-off.
Continue with the main road through Bredasdorp and turn left onto the
Swellendam road, then turn right towards the De Hoop Nature Reserve. You now
still have roughly 50km of dirt road until the start at the Potberg Environmental
Centre; expect to take over 2 hours from Cape Town.
NOTES The event starts 50km outside Bredasdorp – please allow
enough time to get there! Note: Prizes and times will be allotted only to
cyclists wearing a transponder. Reduced fee for the 10km ride. All children
u/10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Remember to bring and wear your PPA funride number, or a
temp day number will have to be bought. Additional CSA day licenses are
required for Non-CSA/ Non-PPA members for MTB routes over 20km.
